Accent Coatings is proudly owned and operated by Buddy and Michelle Lackey. Buddy's journey with Accent Coatings began in 1997, when he joined his father, Ricky Lackey, the company's previous owner, right after graduating from Abilene High School. Working alongside Ricky and his uncle Barry, both seasoned paint contractors with over 20 years of experience, Buddy gained hands-on knowledge and insight into every facet of the trade. As fourth-generation paint contractors, Ricky and Barry passed down a legacy of expertise inherited from their fathers and grandfathers — a tradition that Buddy continues with pride as the fifth generation in the family business.
For many years, the Lackey family has served the Abilene area with a reputation for excellence in painting services, including projects on Dyess Air Force Base and the surrounding areas. Generations of the Lackey family have refined and innovated techniques to ensure top-notch results, allowing them to bring a wealth of knowledge and craftsmanship to every project.
After his father’s retirement due to illness, Buddy took the reins at Accent Coatings, continuing the family legacy and completing over 500 custom home projects, in addition to thousands of repaints across the region.

Accent after hours
At Accent Coatings, we believe in fostering a positive and engaging work culture. That's why we've created Accent After Hours, a program that allows our team members to unwind and bond with one another after a hard day's work. Our spacious game room includes a pool table, air hockey table, foosball table, and dart board. For those who are musically inclined or just want to jam out, we also have a studio and band room available. We take pride in providing a fun and supportive work environment that allows our team to recharge and come back ready to tackle the next project.
